We strive to make quality horse hay. We harvest 8-25 acres of grass mix hay each year. No chemicals, only certified organic fertilizer used. Not all acres are certified organic, so we don't claim certification, but we follow organic management practices (since 2004). We produce small square bales exclusively. Bales are typically 35-50 lbs (depending on hay composition and packing density). Prices are determined by the quality, size of bale, and market conditions. Price per bale typically has been $3.50 to $5.50/bale over the past few years. We always moisture-test the hay before baling and after baling, allowing the bales to "rest/breathe" on the wagons for at least 48 hours to re-test (and before offering for sale). This helps the hay cure evenly throughout the bale and prevents mold formation. We aim for moisture levels well-under the recommended 15% moisture. Historically our hay has tested at 9-12%. Hay availability varies, so please contact us any time to check our inventory. We try to sell directly off the wagons and rarely stockpile or store hay for selling during the fall, winter or spring. We cut our first crop anywhere from late May to early July. Timing of the first crop is totally dictated by the weather and growing conditions. We recommend you call each spring to get on our waiting list. Each year customers are contacted on a first-call first-served basis. Limited local delivery *may* be available for additional fee.
