M State's Equine Science AAS degree and diploma provide students with the introductory skills for an array of careers in the equine industry including stable management, horse training, horse judging and riding instruction. The program's courses, taught by working professionals, are a combination of academic learning and real-life applications. Courses are taught on the M State campus in Fergus Falls and nearby at Red Horse Ranch Arena, a world-class training, boarding and events facility. You'll gain hands-on experience at a busy equine business facility, giving you a unique advantage in the job market. Courses include judging, evaluating, training, barn management, equine reproduction and farrier science. Students who enroll in the 31-credit diploma program can choose to continue their education in the 60-credit AAS degree program, which provides additional work experience through internships. The degree program can serve as a foundation for a bachelor's degree in equine science or for pre-veterinary or pre-veterinary technology programs.
